About the Farm

Salvatierra Farms is currently under construction and our hope is to have it operational by the summer of 2022. As we continue to grow and build our farm it will become a place to learn and experience first hand the beauty of regenerative poultry production, as well as a space to escape for camping trips, and a host to live community events. We hope to be a place where people from the community and beyond can recharge and connect to nature and the earth.

A Regenerative Farm

Salvatierra Farms practices regenerative farming with an indigenous understanding of the concept. Regenerative agriculture as we practice it can’t be defined the way we might expect because it is not a set of practices or things, but rather a way of being, thinking, and living. To truly farm regeneratively, we have to acknowledge and respect the entire ecosystem we participate in. To learn more about the regenerative agriculture framework we use to guide our work visit Regenerative Agriculture Solutions. This framework is meant to be a guide to understanding the specific practices that are needed to create a regenerative poultry system in a community.

Meet the Farmers

Reginaldo Haslett-Marroquin

Or Regi (ray-he), is a father, teacher, farmer – a Guatemalan immigrant who comes from generations of family farmers. He has worked his whole life toward a vision for an integrated agriculture system. He has created a poultry system framework that works with nature to generate conditions to ensure everyone has access to healthy chicken. Passionate about agriculture, community, and economic development, Regi has dreamt of designing this farming operation since he was a high school student at National Agriculture School in Guatemala. Farming has always been his calling, as he says in a profile done by LAI Video “Nothing beats a farm, I’m just pursuing happiness.”

Amy Haslett-Marroquin

Is a mother, teacher, writer and budding herbalist. She is passionate about natural medicines. She learned to love the land romping around the cranberry bogs and blueberry bushes on her grandmother's farm in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Growing vegetable gardens alongside her father and later alongside her children has been a source of joy for as long as she can remember. Outdoor learning and maintaining a school garden is a big part of her current work as a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Prairie Creek Community School. Summers are dedicated to farm work and the Young People's Theater Workshop. She dreams of bringing an Arts and Ag theater camp program to Salvatierra Farms along with dedicating the front area of the farm to flowers and herbs.
